It was crazy how the years could fly by so fast. It seemed like only yesterday that little Alex was born. And Auden still couldn't believe that her daughter was going to be turning five soon. It seemed way too fast. However, she was happy that she and her daughter were now closer to the little girls father. It had been really hard when they were younger, and living so far away. Chatting online through Skype only did so much. But now, now they had more chances to actually see each other in person. And in her heart, she knew that even if nothing worked out for her and Dallas, at least Alex would have her father in her life. And that was the most important thing in the world.
It didn't take long for the blonde to get her daughter ready to leave their small house, tweaking the child's nose playfully after wrapping her up in a warm coat and mittens. She pulled her own coat on before lifting the little girl up onto her hip and walked out the door, locking it behind them and walking down to the car. After placing Alex in the car seat, she moved to get behind the wheel, making sure her seat belt and mirrors were placed properly before driving towards Dallas's apartment. Fortunately, it wasn't too far away, at most a half hour depending on traffic.
Auden pulled into a parking spot near the building, taking a deep breath as she got Alex out from the car seat. She smiled, taking the little girl's hand to walk over to the building. "Ready to go see Daddy..?" She knew that their daughter loved seeing him every chance she got, and with Christmas just around the corner, all that bundled up energy just got bigger and bigger. The two walked to the door, and she knocked, wondering who would answer. She knew that his roommate, Mason, was home too, and knew she was coming over. But she knew he wouldn't expect her to have a kid either. It was gong to be an interesting afternoon.

Mason groaned with his arm placed over his face laying on his back on the couch. No band practice to attend, no girls to screw, no free food to pawn off of Dallas. He was completely lacking of events to take part in. And so he laid on the couch groaning loudly hoping Dallas would hear and come relieve him of his boredom. And even as time went on and there was no budge from his roommate's quarters, he got louder. So loud to the point that there was not a fat chance in hell that Dallas couldn't hear him. The neighbors could here him, people outside could hear him. And so he stopped.
Thirty seconds later he whined, "Daaaaaaaaaallassssssssss" he groaned again following the phrase. "I'm boooooored." Mason was a champion at complaining, even if Dallas was champion at ignoring him. Years of practice Mason would like to think. Commenting on the pairs long years of friendship. Then again, this wasn't an unordinary Tuesday for the two roommates. And this wasn't exactly unusual behavior for the 22 two year old. Although usually by now he would have dragged himself into Dallas's bedroom to whine. It appeared he was too lazy today.
Mason flipped himself over to his stomach and placed his chin on the couch cushion. He looked out into the room and sighed rather audibly. Dallas was ignoring him and now he had not a single clue what to do with his time. He heard a knocking at the door. "Dallllllllllllas, someone's at the dooooooooor." He whined. "Get it lazy, today's my day off." rang out from the bedroom. "Alright, alright." he grumbled pushing himself off the couch and to his feet. Mason walked over to the door and opened it without bothering to look through the peep hole. He found a girl standing in the hallway with a small child. A little perplexed he called to Dallas. "Dallas get your lazy ass out here!" he called loudly.

Laying around in his bed, Dallas didn't want to move. It was finally his day off and he just wanted to spend it's entirety in bed. Normally, he would have gone to see Auden and Alexandria, mentioning something about going out to find yet another hat to Mason so that he wouldn't catch on, but today was different. Dallas had worked more than fifteen days in a row and he was beat. The money was obviously really nice, especially to pay for the apartment that he and Mason were living in and so fund his child support payment without his best friend catching on to it.
Hearing Mason in the living room, groaning and whining, Dallas put his pillow over his head and just ignored his friend. It seemed to be a typical thing for him to do when he needed some time to catch up on sleep. Though, it wasn't until Mason had mentioned something about someone being at the door that Dallas called out to his friend to get his lazy self up and get it. Though, the quiet was soon disturbed again when Mason called out for Dallas to get his lazy ass to the front door.
Groaning, but getting up anyway, Dallas grabbed his hoodie and tossed it over his head as he walked out of his bedroom and towards the front door. When he got there, he saw a flash of blonde hair before he heard a tiny voice call out for him. "Daddy!" the tiny voice said, little feet bringing the source towards him quickly. Leaning down and grabbing his daughter, Dallas stood up with her in his arms, kissing her cheek softly. "Daddy missed you, Princess," the dark haired male spoke. Looking up to see his ex, Dallas looked to Mason, realizing that his secret was no longer such a big secret anymore. Taking his glance off of his friend and moving it to Auden, Dallas spoke, "I thought it was just going to be you coming over." A little confused by the entire thing, Dallas wasn't sure how he felt about Mason knowing his life secret.

Auden would have been the first to admit that she was a little nervous to be bringing Alex with her to visit Dallas. They hadn't really told anyone about the fact they had a child together. The only people who knew were her adoptive parents, and that was simply because she was living with them when she was pregnant. Not exactly a hard thing to miss. Her biological parents didn't know about it, and she planned on keeping it that way. So having her daughter with her, could complicate the day. She was positive that Dallas hadn't told his roommate about Alex, and was worried he'd be angry with her for bringing the little girl with her for the day.
Honestly, she couldn't have helped it. For some reason, the preschool that Alex went to during the week days, was closed that Tuesday for something. She had tried to find a sitter for a few hours, but none of the people she usually called were free, and she didn't really trust anyone else. She knew she could have dropped Alex off with her parents, but she didn't want to put them through the trouble. She bit her lower lip lightly when she heard a male's voice from inside the door. And got a little tongue tied when the door opened to show a boy she didn't know. She assumed that was Mason.
Auden opened her mouth to say hello, but was interrupted by a loud yell from her daughter when the little girl caught sight of Dallas walking towards the door. She smiled softly, tucking a strand of pale blonde hair behind her ear. Her cheeks flushed slightly pink when Dallas questioned why it hadn't been just her as it was originally going to be. "It was. The school was closed today, so I had to bring her with me." She smiled again, looking at the happy face of their daughter in her fathers arms. As bad as it was to spill the secret like this, she still wouldn't have changed it for the world looking at that little girl's face. She shook her head slightly so as to clear it before glancing to the other male. "Sorry, bad manners. I'm Auden. You must be Mason?"

While Mason was on the way to the door of their apartment he snatched his hat off the counter where he had left it when he went to sit on the couch brooding in his own boredom. He rolled it over in his hand gripping the brim of it confidently with his fingers. He lifted it above him and placed it snugly on his head backwards. But nothing could have confused him more than what he found standing in the hallway. His hand placed on his head slowly slipped down to his side. He found himself at a loss for words until Dallas arrived to at least help him with his perplexing situation. Mason wracked his brain trying to see if he knew her at all. God forbid this was some girl he had slept with in the past. To be honest he had so many drunken nights that he couldn't remember and he hoped this wasn't the past knocking on his door.
If this was someone that he had fooled around with coming back to bite him in the ass he silently swore to never drink again. A hollow promise that he knew even he couldn't keep for himself. Mason took his right hand up to his face and covered his eyes thinking about everything. To be honest he was nervous, Mason would never be a good father. He wasn't even a good goldfish owner. He fed them too much, and then he forgot to feed them, he never cleaned them, and well he didn't noticed that they had been dead for two days or that someone had put them in the cabinet of the bus. When the small girl went running past him towards Dallas screaming daddy, Mason inwardly sighed. His expression softened and his hand returned to his side. He was so happy that he wasn't a father that he almost forgot his confusion. Confusion which quickly turned to anger. He stood looking at Dallas like he never had before. Even almost not hearing Auden. He looked to her a little crossly out of the corner of his eye. Holding up a hand to stop her talking and nodding. "Dallas." he said clenching his teeth and flexing his jaw muscles. "Other room." he said. So he walked away from the young girl, grabbing Dallas's shirt and pulling him along as he passed. When they were in Dallas's room he shut the door and hesitated turning around until mid sentence. "When were you planning on telling me you had a kid?!" he quietly shouted trying not to tip off the girl and her daughter that he was angry. Like they didn't already know. Mason didn't care he had a daughter, all he cared about was the fact that his best friend never told him that he had a kid. Dallas knew everything about Mason, but it was apparent that he didn't know everything about Dallas. What else did he just casually leave out?

As soon as Auden had answered his questioned and turned her attention to Mason, Dallas put his daughter back on the ground and held her hand when she slipped it into his own. Though, it wasn't until Mason turned his attention back to Dallas that he knew that something was up. Mason seemed a bit angry, probably a little bit shocked at the very least. And when Mason grabbed a hold of him, Dallas knew that his best friend was pissed. Looking to Auden, Dallas mumbled slightly, "There's apple juice in the fridge and food in the kitchen if you're hungry. I'll be right back. Make yourself at home." And with that, Dallas allowed his best friend to drag him off to his own room by the fistful of his shirt. Once the pair were in Dallas' bedroom, the door was shut and Dallas looked at Mason.
Hearing the anger and frustration in his friend's voice, Dallas knew that he shouldn't get angry with Mason for getting pissed at him. Taking a deep breath in, Mason sighed slightly and sat on the edge of his bed as if he were being yelled at by his mother. She had always sat him down on the edge of his bed and made him explain why he had done something wrong. Looking up to Mason, Dallas exhaled and went on with his explanation. "Mase, she was born days before I met you. That's not something you tell someone when you first meet them. And after that, I never found the right time to tell you. It's not like I could just walk in while you were eating Fruity Pebbles and be like 'Hey Mase, guess what. I have a kid'." Messing with his hat, Dallas made eye contact with his friend and roommate and tried so desperately not to make any sarcastic remarks. "I'm sorry, Mase. I was going to tell you eventually. I just didn't think I'd have to tell you this soon and like this," Dallas spoke. Knowing that this wasn't going to be the end of Mason's ranting and frustration, Dallas just sat on the edge of his bed like a puppy being yelled at for peeing on the floor. His head hung low and his eyes were now focusing on his sneakers and their shoelaces instead.
